Hello from Rolling Hills Casino

Day 3 – Rolling Hills Casino and RV Park, Corning California.

We left Seven Feathers at 7:15 am, headed over the Siskyou Mountains…travelled through a  very mixed bag of weather,   rain, wind, and fog. Very grateful the temp was about 10 degrees above freezing so there was no snow falling.

IMG_3042

We made a short stop at the “All Star Liquor Store” just as we enter California, to pick up a To Go Order for our friends in Yuma.

IMG_3038

In the higher elevations around Mount Shasta, we ran into a bit of fog, but luckily we didn’t see any snow or ice, except what was on the ground from some previous snowfalls.

hmmm…that looks like a palm tree but where is the sun?

We pulled into Rolling Hills Casino RV park around 12:30 pm. It seems like a short day but after all the steep grades, up and  down, it is a tiring drive hauling an R.V. Paul & Lisa pulled in about 1/2 hour after us….had time for a game of Pegs & Jokers  before supper.

We hope for  a very early start tomorrow , it’s 400 miles to Orange Grove RV in Bakersfield. We are also hoping that the Oranges are ready for picking!

Hello from Seven Feathers

Day 2 – Seven Feather RV Resort, Canyonville, Oregon.

We spent last night at Tulalip Casino Truck/RV parking lot in Marysville Washington with our friends Paul & Lisa.  We were all missing Mr. Bentley, their darling Bijon dog, who passed away last month The weather was VERY WET. We had an early night, then an early start this morning at 6:00 am.

Forecast was for rain, heavy at times, they were correct, but we did hit some sunny breaks. Arrived at Seven Feathers shortly after 2:00 pm, Hot apple cider at reception on arrival. Nice to have some electricity and running water.

That’s a “traditional” Hot Apple Cider that they give when you check in. Very warm  here for this time of year.

And Away We Go…

We will start our journey south tomorrow. We are taking the same route as the two previous years, following Interstate 5 to the Bakersfield California turnoff, then on to Yuma via Palm Springs. We should arrive in Yuma Arizona late afternoon on Wednesday Dec 9. The weatherman is calling for Rain all the way to California, then overcast to Bakersfield with sunshine onward to Yuma. We will try to post daily as we travel, with many updates during our stay.

Day 5 -YUMA…Cocopah Casino……

We left Orange Grove at 7:45 AM…after picking 2 bags of oranges from the trees….arrived in Palm Springs at 1 PM, we had intended to shop at the outlets there but we were too tired &  parking & maneuvering the rig was too much…so we headed to Indio at the Fantasy Springs Casino where we had heard there was overnight RV Parking…we arrived there about 3PM …not impressed, it appeared there was no security and seemed a dusty place, so we decided to push to Yuma.  We made a stop in El Centro at the Costco, Tom got his scotch whiskey (half price of Canadian)  We arrived in Yuma just after 8PM Yuma time(7PM our time).  It was too late to get into Del Pueblo (after 8 PM) so we went down the road to the Cocopah Casino and parked there overnight.  There were alot of RVS parked there and very good security.  we had breakfast at the Casino and then came to Del Pueblo.

We are very happy to be here finally … lots of renewed acquaintances and looking forward to the first Happy Hour here in about half an hour…..

Totals for the trip:

1655 miles…….142.2 gals……$497.25  (100.00 less than last year)

Day 3 – Corning, Ca…Rolling Hills Casino & RV

We left Seven Feathers Casino at 8:06 this morning. We normally like to leave earlier, but I wanted daylight to drive through the mountains.  The weather started out much better than we expected. The forecast was for rain the entire trip, but we stayed dry all the way to Weed California. Our new 2015 GMC Diesel outperformed all expectations. The exhaust brake worked great,  we traveled almost the whole route in cruise control. The only time I touched the brakes was to slow for semi trucks that  blocked all the lanes. Our new diesel just blew right by them!

Gas consumption today:  24.5 gals…Cost 92.00…..276 miles

Total:                                       71.4 gals….Cost $252.90….813 miles

Day 1 – Dec 13,2014….Tulalip Casino

We left home about 5:30 PM….   later in the day than we had planned, we had actually planned to leave Sunday but the weather forecast changed, so we did also….we stopped at Hagen’s in Burlington for a few groceries ie eggs because eggs and any poultry products are currently prohibited crossing the border…It was cold and dark by the time we got to Tulalip at about 8:30 PM…..No hookups, but we had propane… so Thank god for hot water bottles to warm the bed!!                                                                                                                                    Day 1:   Gas consumption 10.5 gals , cost $35.40….traveled 104 miles
