The Adventure Continues…

This Snowbird adventure is really terrific. The days have somehow all blended into one. We have had unseasonably good weather since we arrived. Highs now are around 28 degrees with a little breeze usually. Sunset around 6:00 to 6:30. I have found this to be an excellent time for the pool and hot tub. I went tonight and nobody was there. Sunday night is a big night here for “Card Bingo”, followed by “Pegs & Jokers” and “500”, so lots of people would eat dinner and then go to the Rec Centre for Ice Cream before the games. This is an Endless Summer. We have had good times with our friends and also met some wonderful new ones. Everyone is starting to talk about going home next month and looking forward to coming back next year. This RV park has been open for about 10 or 12 years, and we have met quite a few who have been here every year. There are all ages of snowbirds here ( I played pickleball today with a fellow who is 82 and plays either tennis or pickleball most days ), and even some grandchildren from time to time. When you go into Yuma shopping you will see every licence plate imaginable from the midwest to the West coast.

There was a lot of interest in the Olympics here and everyone was following all the sports especially curling & hockey. Congratulations to all the Canadians for a splendid performance.

As the weather is getting so warm now, a lot of cooking is being done outside on BBQ’s and Crockpot slow cookers. ( Park smells terrific around supper time ). As new friendships are made, there are a lot of pot luck dinners around the park. We are going to one tomorrow night, Bring Potato salad and beverage of choice, oh yeah, and a couple of chairs.

We purchased a Sun Screen here. A lot of people have them, and Front & Back can also be added. They block 85% of the sun as well as giving a bit of privacy.

IMG_1553The Park is pretty full now. All the spots on nearby streets have been taken and only the short term transient sites are empty now

We are going into Mexico tomorrow. A little tourist trap called Los Algodones. Will take a few photos and post our thoughts in the next day or two.
